Recruitment Process


Institute of Banking Personnel Selection (IBPS) conducts its examination for the post of Probationary Officers (PO). IBPS department decided to take IBPS CWE VII PO Online exam in two parts:
  • IBPS Preliminary Exam
  • IBPS Mains Exam
Recently IBPS has released Tentative Dates of IBPS PO Exam 2017-18.


  • Preliminary Examination: 02.10.2017, 08.10.2017, 14.10.2017 & 15.10.2017
  • Main Examination: 26.11.2017

Note: All participants who successfully registered himself / herself in PO VII firstly have to fight with (Preliminary) Pre exam and Shortlist candidates in Preliminary examination will be called for Mains Exam will subsequently be called for a Common Interview to be conducted by the Participating Organisations and co-ordinated by the Nodal Bank. Marks scored in mains exam will be decided for short listing for interview.


IBPS Pre Exam Pattern will contain 100 questions & in 3 sections in the Preliminary Examination with 1 hour duration. The marks obtained in the Preliminary examination will not be considered for preparing the final merit list.

A) IBPS PO 2017 Exam Pattern – Preliminary Examination

B) IBPS PO Mains 2017 Exam Pattern:

IBPS Mains exam will contain 200 questions which will be of 140 minutes. The pattern of the Mains exam is:

Important Note : Marks obtained by the candidates in the Main examination will only be considered for shortlisting for Interview and preparation of final merit list.
Note: There will be negative marking for wrong answers marked by the candidates in both Preliminary and Main Examination which implies a penalty of ¼ or 0.25 of the marks assigned to the particular question will be deducted as penalty to arrive at corrected score.

C) IBPS PO Interview :

The total marks allotted for Interview are 100. The minimum qualifying marks in interview will not be less than 40% (35% for SC/ST/OBC/PWD candidates). The weightage (ratio) of CWE (Main exam) and interview will be 80:20 respectively. Marks obtained by the candidates in the Main examination and Interview will be considered for final merit list.

IBPS PO 2017 Eligibility Criteria:

Educational Qualifications :

A Degree (Graduation) in any discipline from a University recognised by the Govt. Of India or any equivalent qualification recognized as such by the Central Government. The candidate must possess valid Mark-sheet / Degree Certificate that he/ she is a graduate on the day he / she registers and indicate the percentage of marks obtained in Graduation while registering online. Computer Literacy: Operating and working knowledge in computer systems is mandatory i.e. candidates should have Certificate/Diploma/Degree in computer operations/Language/ should have studied Computer / Information Technology as one of the subjects in the High School/College/Institute.
Ex-Servicemen who do not possess the above civil examination qualifications should be matriculate Ex-Servicemen who have obtained the Army Special Certificate of Education or corresponding certificate in the Navy or Air Force after having completed not less than 15 years of service in the Armed Forces of the Union as on 01.09.2017. Such certificates should be dated on or before 01.09.2017.

Age (As on 01.08.2017)

Minimum: 20 years Maximum: 28 years i.e. a candidate must have been born not earlier than 02.08.1989 and not later than 01.08.1997 (both dates inclusive)

Nationality / Citizenship:
A candidate must be either
  • a Citizen of India or
  • a subject of Nepal or
  • a subject of Bhutan or
  • a Tibetan Refugee who came over to India before 1st January 1962 with the intention of permanently settling in India or
  • a person of Indian origin who has migrated from Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka, East African countries of Kenya, Uganda, the United Republic of Tanzania (formerly Tanganyika and Zanzibar), Zambia, Malawi, Zaire, Ethiopia and Vietnam with the intention of permanently settling in India, provided that a candidate belonging to categories (ii), (iii), (iv) & (v) above shall be a person in whose favour a certificate of eligibility has been issued by the Government of India.
Interview Process

The last round of selection is Interview process to be attended only by the candidates who would have obtained the minimum cut off score in the Main Examination. The Interview will be held at selected centres and will be conducted by Participating Organizations and coordinated by the Nodal Bank in each State/ UT with the help of IBPS.
